Not only did I come in to work today to learn the disturbing news of the company rabbit passing away, but in my daily quest for knowledge—which, as a librarian, I do not take lightly—I came across your article published in Bioinformatics in 2008. The numbers you quote in your very first sentence cannot, in fact, be found anywhere in the cited document.
Sir, may I ask politely, what the fuck is up with that shit?
Seriously.
I spend my entire day looking for statistics, finally find some that seem promising, and follow through on my research only to be denied the pleasure of coming across a citation that actually has some authority? Balls.
(This in the wake of belatedly finding out about the Elsevier crisis earlier this month, the proprietors of which were hilariously described in this news report as “shonky.”)
Anyways, I’d appreciate it if you could respond in a timely fashion to my harsh but justified criticism with the appropriate information source.
